    Job Description

    Vacancy Announcement

    Samari Utthan Sewa (SUS) was founded in 2008 and registered in the District Administration Office (DAO) of Chitwan with registration number 73 under the Social Welfare Act 1992 and Social Welfare Rules 1992. It is a member-based, non-profit making, and non-government organization. It is also registered in the Social Welfare Council with registration number 24740 and obtained a tax exemption certificate from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Nepal with PAN number 302808852. 

    The SUS is initiating the project entitled "Protection and Assistance to vulnerable internal migrant workers from the Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) in Nepal-SHARMIK" to address the critical challenges faced by internal migrant workers (IMWs) especially those engaged in Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) and their families in project local. Workers in the Adult Entertainment Sector face barriers to their rights, including limited access to dignified job opportunities and insufficient awareness of their rights and social security mechanisms. They have a lack of information, organizational support, and inclusion in mainstream government initiatives. On the supply side, ineffective policy implementation, inadequate budgets, and weak political accountability hinder addressing issues faced by the Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) and internal migrant workers. The proposed project aims to address these challenges by enhancing awareness, providing support mechanisms, and advocating for policy improvements, ensuring a more equitable and secure environment for AES workers, including internal migrants. 

    We are looking for dynamic and committed consultants for conducting the following work details: -

    Consultancy service for assessment (extended deadline for application 16 August 2024): Consultancy Service for "conducting internal migration assessment including social security schemes of federal, provincial, and local government for protecting and promoting internal migrant labour rights":- The consultant will offer technical assistance to establish the baseline benchmark on internal migration patterns including social security schemes of federal, provincial, and local government for protecting and promoting internal migrant labour rights. Likewise, the consultant will assess the feasibility of establishing an Employment Service Center (ESC). He/she will work closely with the project team and local stakeholders including government officials, internal migrant representatives, trade unions, and community representatives to collect and analyse the data. Based on the findings, the consultant expert will make specific suggestions to address the existing gaps and opportunities. The project area encompasses Madi Municipality (Wards 7,8 &9) and Bharatpur Metropolitan City (Wards 2 & 29). 

    The applicant must have a master's degree in any discipline with at least 5 years of intensive working experience in migration, social security and the adult entertainment sector, and consultation facilitation and report writing skills in English and Nepali.

    Consultancy service for employment strategy development (Application deadline 23rd August 2024). This position is responsible for preparing a local employment strategy for Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Madi Municipality in Chitwan. Under the consultancy, the consultant is responsible for facilitating day-long workshops for local stakeholders working in the Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Madi Municipality in Chitwan. Likewise, She/He is responsible for analysing a contextual scenario of both local-level government and a review of existing problems, issues, and barriers for addressing employment gaps in the local government's programme and plan. Similarly, She/He is responsible for drafting a local employment strategy in line with the guidelines provided by the Nepal government. 

    The applicant must have a master's degree in any discipline with at least 5 years of intensive working experience in migration, social security and the adult entertainment sector, and consultation facilitation and report writing skills in English and Nepali.

    Consultancy service for conducting labour market surveys at Bharatpur Metropolitan city and Madi Municipality (Application deadline 23rd August 2024): This position is responsible for conducting a labour market survey to identify the skill development training needs of the targeted population in the project area. The main purpose of the survey is to identify gaps and challenges faced by vulnerable populations to connect in labour market and identify skill demand at the local level. The survey will be conducted in Bharatpur Metropolitan City (Ward no.2, 29) and Madi Municipality (Ward no.7,8,9). The consultant is responsible for sharing the findings with stakeholders.

    The applicant must have a master's degree in any discipline with at least 5 years of extensive working experience in migration, social security and the adult entertainment sector and have outstanding experience in conducting assessments and surveys.
