    Brief Introduction of Organizations and Projects

    Aawaaj is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization established in 1999 through the joint initiatives of professionals with a strong commitment to combating gender-based violence, trafficking, child marriage, child protection, and all forms of discrimination against children and women in Nepal. In partnership with ECPAT Luxembourg, the Sankalpa project began in May 2021 and will continue until December 2024 in the Dailekh and Bardiya districts. The project aims to empower and sensitize vulnerable communities, teachers, students, and mobilize communities to influence duty bearers to report and respond to early child marriage in rural mid-western Nepal. Aawaaj is seeking staff for the "Sankalpa" project as detailed below:

    Duty Station: Dullu, Dailekh 

    Position: District Project Coordinator

    Employment type: Fixed term, Full time

    Project Title:  Sankalpa “Empowering Stakeholders, Raising Awareness and Protecting Children from Early and Forced Marriage in (mid-west) Nepal”

    No. of Position: 1 (one)

    Main Responsibilities: 

    The District Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and report writing. The post holder will play a key role in developing linkages, primarily for cross-fertilizing good practices, learning, and skills among stakeholders, as well as bringing successful project stories to the municipality level. They will also initiate conceptual discussions around project scaling, success, concerns, and dilemmas with field-based colleagues. Additionally, the post holder is responsible for ensuring the quality of implemented projects and reporting to the Project Coordinator at Aawaaj. Furthermore, they will represent Aawaaj in Palika-level meetings, conferences, and forums as required.

    Qualifications and Experience Requirements

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or any relevant subject, with 3 years of relevant work experience. 
    2. Experience in the field of reducing gender-based violence, child protection, and preventing child marriage.
    3. Strong skills in report writing, data/information collection, communication, success story creation, and coordination, as well as the ability to cooperate effectively.
    4. Capacity for policy advocacy on child protection issues and resource mapping at the municipality level.
    5. Familiarity with government policies on child protection, sexual violence, gender-based violence, budgeting, as well as local-level planning processes, and the ability to be gender-sensitive.
    6. Knowledge of child marriage-related policies, laws, national strategies to end early and forced marriage (ECM), and situation of child marriage. 
    7. Ability to facilitate training on child protection and gender issues.
    8. Strong coordination and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
    9. Ability to remain calm under pressure and determined to deliver tasks on time.
    10. Efficient, reliable, and trustworthy individual.
    11. A team player with a learning attitude and effective communication skills, with a flexible approach.
    12. Capable of planning and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
    13. Good understanding and sensitivity to child rights, human rights, gender, caste, ethnicity, disability, and LGBTIQ+ issues.
    14. Proficiency in computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office, email, and internet usage.
